Basic accommodation with nice fitness facilities.

The pool was great for my daughter and I and the other fitness facilities also looked good. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and let us leave our bags there while we were at the zoo.

The hotel was tired and in places dirty. My daughter put her clothes in the bedside cabinet and they came out covered in dust. The bowls at breakfast were dirty and my ordered tea never arrived (I didnt mention it as we were short on time but I'm sure the staff would have sorted it). In the morning the fire alarm was being tested but no one warned us so it gave my daughter a fright thinking that we needed to evacuate!

Comfortable stay, lovely friendly staff.

The rooms were very spacious, (including the bathroom) with a comfortable couch to sit on. The bed was very comfortable. Room was bit chilly but put the heating on to warm up and was then really cosy. The room we had (no.50), was really quiet, even though there was a dog staying nexdoor. Great nightssleep. Breakfast was good, no complaints. We had tea at the hotel, both had ambshank, was lovely and we didnt wait too long. Staff were all very helpful, happy and polite. We didnt use the pool so cant review that, however we did go and have a look and it looked pretty quiet.

Not really a complaint, but a full length mirror would be great. There are mirrors everywhere, especially in the bathroom, but none full length. Definitely space for one. It was somewhat cold when we had tea in the restaurant part and had to ask for some heating. I ordered a specific Gin with my meal, this was not available, however, the waiter advised that he didn't know much about alcohol and would find out what others there were. However, he came back with a list of non Gin drinks. I then approached the bar and asked what other Gin options where there and he didn't have a clue. Luckily I quickly identified one and had to point it out. Bar staff need to be able to identify the difference between a Whiskey and a Gin etc. and know what drinks they have to offer. Signal on the TV wasnt great.

The property needs a deep clean and or refurbishment. The room we stayed in and the health suite were filthy. I stripped the bed prior to our departure (as I always do) to find a bloody duvet and what seemed like blood stained pillows. Spa lockers broken and filthy (full of mud) Changing room needs a power wash. Jacuzzi looked very scummy and sauna. Granted the stay was not expensive, however I would still expect a better standard of cleanliness. Staff we met were very attentive and friendly

Comfortable nights sleep

Extra large double made of 2 single mattresses. one much softer than the other so was a little uneven. Needs either an super king-size mattress or 2 single mattresses of the same softness. Plug sockets could do with upgrading to USB enabled sockets to let people charge phones etc.

Breakfast was laid out including milk for guests. Though early and not too hot milk should be served with the tea and coffee not left out.

A pleasant enough stay.

Gym & pool - Hotel set in lovely grounds, very pretty in the sunshine. Buffet Breakfast (Standard). Free parking. Radiator was not on in the evening - room was cold, contacted reception who swiftly responded by going and turning on the boiler, we eventually had some warmth, plus she supplied us with an extra duvet - Thank you Chelsea!

Front of the property could do with some attention, lacked curb appeal. . Phone in the room not operational apparently line was taken down, think one should remove the phone from the room and make a note of this in the hotel information folder. - No tumbler in the bathroom to place your toothbrush/toothpaste. Tea, coffee and sugar sachets were place in the actual mugs on the tray rather than in a separate ramakin and no complimentary extras i.e. accompanying biscuit or two.

We got there at 4 , after checking in not long after we got told the boiler was broke which meant no hot water and no heating , we were very dissatisfied as I’m really bad with arthritis and need a bath to help but couldn’t

It was ok for one night.

The room was large and had a four poster bed. The bathroom was large. Most of the food was good.

We were asked if we would like to pay for a Disco and Dinner on Boxing Day. The idea was nice but there were only 14 people at the event which made a dull atmosphere. They messed up my husband's dinner.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel not as elegant as depicted in pictures. Breakfast was poor - cold, cups cracked, not a great selection to choose from.

Needs a lot of work

The pool and gym area were incredible .the pool was huge for a hotel, nice and warm, poolside area was spotless and relaxing The staff were very professional too.

The decor was very dated and in the room we had the bathroom was very much in need of tlc- shower didn't work properly, was very rusty / mouldy the beds were ancient ( I've attached pictures) My kids said it was the " cecil hotel"
